Avery, Hayes Named to USTFCCCA Division All-Region
Livingstone College’s Justin Avery and Quanera Hayes were named All-Atlantic Region honorees for the 2013-14 indoor track & field season in Division II as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday.
Justin Avery received the All-Atlantic Region honors competing in the men’s 200 meter dash. After finishing fourth in the 2014 CIAA Indoor Championships, for a 12th overall ranking in the NCAA DII National Championships, Avery placed first in the 200m dash at the George Mason University annual Last Chance Meet.
Already at the top of the Division II qualifying list for the indoor 400 meters, Quanera Hayes solidified her position as one of the Division’s top sprinters and was named a National Division II player of the week. Hayes also is an All-Atlantic region selection in the 200 meters. She ran her way to another nationals appearance early in the season with a posted time of 24.24.
The top five individuals in each event from each region earned the All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the regions’ top three relay teams. The regions used for this award match those used during the cross country season. Men’s All-Region awards went to 536 different student-athletes, who combined for 770 total awards.
