SALISBURY, N.C.- As Livingstone College enters the new year, the institution welcomes three senior staff members who began their roles on Jan. 2, 2026, bringing diverse professional backgrounds that strengthen the College’s commitment to growth, service, and student success. Collectively, these appointments reflect Livingstone’s focus on advancing strategic priorities and positioning the institution for continued excellence and long-term sustainability. 

Adreanna Johnson, M.P.A.: Associate Vice President of Strategic Engagement  

An accomplished strategic communications and engagement executive with experience spanning across local government to private sector leadership, Johnson will lead integrated strategies to elevate Livingstone College’s visibility, reputation, and philanthropic success. In this role, she provides executive leadership across communications, alumni and donor engagement, strategic partnerships, and community relations in support of the College’s long-term growth. 

Johnson most recently served as a strategy and performance analyst with Durham County Government, where she led enterprise-wide strategic initiatives and engagement efforts across more than 30 departments and played a key role in developing DCo Forward 2029, the county’s strategic plan. She is also the founder of The Alumni Collective, a North Carolina-based organization focused on strengthening alumni engagement and philanthropic support for historically Black colleges and universities, helping generate more than $40,000 in direct support for students and academic programs through large-scale engagement initiatives and national digital campaigns. 

David Camps Sr.: Associate Vice President for Foundation Relations and Sponsored Programs 

With more than 30 years of experience in higher education, federal research administration, and public service, Camps leads strategies to secure foundation and grant funding, cultivate high-level partnerships, and support faculty research in alignment with Livingstone College’s Strategic Plan. He brings senior leadership experience from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Shaw University, and Fayetteville State University, as well as prior service as vice president of operations at H4 Enterprises, LLC, where he oversaw compliance for multibillion-dollar contracts. Camps also dedicated 22 years of service to the U.S. Army, an experience that shaped his commitment to service, accountability, and leadership in support of institutional growth and expanded opportunities for students and faculty.  

Lavon Gray: Special Assistant to the President for IT and Operations

An accomplished certified Six Sigma Black Belt executive with more than 25 years of leadership experience across administration, finance, operations, higher education, and information technology, Dr. LaVon Gray will provide strategic financial and operational leadership for the College. In this role, she will oversee budget management, strengthen governance practices, and align institutional resources to support organizational goals and long-term sustainability. Known for leading complex initiatives and disciplined fiscal management, Gray brings a collaborative approach focused on transparency, accountability, and measurable results.

With these appointments, Livingstone College looks ahead with optimism and purpose. The addition of these leaders reflects the institution’s confidence in a future shaped by strong leadership, collaboration, and a shared commitment to student success.
