SALISBURY, NC – Livingstone College hosted a press conference on Monday, May 5, 2026, to provide updates regarding the unlawful entry incidents that occurred during Winter Break 2025 at College Park Residence Hall, while reaffirming the College’s continued commitment to campus safety, transparency, and community partnership.

Representatives from the Salisbury Police Department, Salisbury Mayor Pro-Tem Susan Kluttz, and City Council member Gemale Black joined College leadership during the briefing in support of ongoing campus safety efforts and student wellbeing.

During the press conference, officials shared updates related to the investigation, including confirmation that a suspect connected to the incidents has been identified through coordinated investigative efforts. Officials also discussed enhanced safety measures implemented across campus and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration in protecting students and the surrounding community.

Salisbury Police Chief Patrick Smith highlighted the collaborative nature of the investigation and commended the partnership between Livingstone College Police and local agencies.

“The identification of the suspect was made possible through coordinated investigative efforts, enhanced security measures, and strong communication between the College and law enforcement agencies,” said Smith. “We value our partnership with Livingstone College and will continue working together to protect this campus and the broader Salisbury community.”

Livingstone College President Dr. Anthony J. Davis emphasized that student safety will remain a top priority as the College continues strengthening campus security efforts and communication with students and families.

“At Livingstone College, the safety and wellbeing of our students is not just a priority, it is a responsibility we carry with urgency and care every single day,” said Davis. “Let me be clear: actions that threaten the safety of our students will not be tolerated in this community. We are grateful for the swift and strategic response from our partners in the City of Salisbury and Rowan County, whose collaboration has been instrumental in achieving this outcome. This update represents significant progress, but our work does not stop here. We want our students to feel safe, our families to feel confident, and our community to know that Livingstone College is fully committed to both.”
