Attorney Ben Crump Pledges $10,000 to Support Student Success at Livingstone College

SALISBURY, N.C. (May 1, 2026)- Livingstone College proudly welcomed nationally renowned civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump, Esq. as the keynote speaker for the 2026 Samuel E. Duncan Honors Convocation, where he not only inspired students but made a lasting investment to their futures.  

During his visit, Attorney Crump pledged $10,000 to support student success initiatives, reinforcing his commitment to education, equity, and the next generation of leaders.  

More than 300 student honorees were recognized during the Honors Convocation, celebrating academic excellence and a growing culture of achievement at Livingstone College. Over the past year, the College has seen an 80% increase in students earning a 3.7 GPA or higher, a reflection of its continued focus on academic rigor and student support.  

In his keynote address, Crump encouraged students to walk boldly in their purpose, emphasizing the importance of resilience, advocacy, and using one’s voice to create change. 

Following the Honors Convocation, the College hosted a VIP book signing with selected students and members of the community to celebrate Crump’s new book, Worse Than a Lie. President Davis gifted attendees with a copy of the book, further extending the impact of the day and creating space for continued reflection and engagement. 

The event highlighted Livingstone College’s continued momentum as an institution that is resilient, relevant, and ready, preparing students for impactful careers and global leadership.
