The main goals and objectives of the Accounting program are as follows:
-To equip students with a thorough understanding of financial, managerial, and tax accounting theory and practice, blended with broad communication and interpersonal skills;
-To prepare students to pursue a career in public accounting;
-To prepare students for graduate studies in accounting and other related fields of business
-To prepare students to successfully pass professional certification examinations, such as the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Exams.
All Accounting students are required to maintain a 2.3 cumulative GPA for continuation of the program. Accounting students are encouraged to participate in student organizations, National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) and/or Voluntary Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA).
